Natural Pet Food, a premium pet food company that has a $2.2 billion in revenue last year, did not report the number of pet food-related complaints filed with the Food and Drug Administration last year.
Pet food makers are required to report complaints about ingredients, ingredients, packaging, or packaging quality within one month of the complaint.
According to the FDA’s website, the company’s food label includes the ingredients of the pet food.
The FDA did not return a request for comment.
Last year, the FDA fined the company $1 million for failing to properly disclose ingredient data.
The FDA said in a statement that it is investigating the issue, and will issue a final report later this month.
Pet owners should review their ingredients before eating the food to make sure the ingredients they are buying are safe, the agency said.
If you or someone you know is struggling with food allergies, consider getting tested by a health professional, according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
Natural Pet Foods did not immediately respond to a request from The Associated Press for comment Tuesday.
